The bar is an interesting opportunity in the kitchen and lifestyle spaces to introduce the critical accent colour/texture - the counterpoint and balance in the scheme...setting a cup or plate down onto timber increases the sense of comfort and luxury in amongst the essential hard polished surfaces of the working|preparation areas.  In this element another interesting working|sitting night can be achieved - a drop down table maybe or in this case an elevated breakfast|dining bar...

This is enormously helpful when designing in the contemporary German|Northern European style - the hand made is a good foil for the engineered lines of the modern space, one helps the other delivering balance, richness and increased comfort.
